2) How does your media product represent particular social groups?

Our media project doesn’t target any particular race and depict them in a particular fashion but we do represent a particular social group that being ‘Teenagers’, it could be argued that we portray them as irresponsible and reckless due to the fact our Tyler Johnson character drowned in the river as shown in the montage .The use of the low angle shot depicts one of our characters Dylan Patel to have particular power and dominance which in actual fact isn’t true as he has no control over the situation in which he is in ...

Our opening sequence doesn’t show any female characters at all meaning the film is very male     dominated and males of a particular age that being  17 -19 , which also relates to the audience which our opening sequence is aimed at .

4) Who would be the audience for your media product?

Our target audience would be the demographic of young adults aged between 15 to 25, earlier investigations we carried out indicated that many of our target audience found conventional thrillers to be boring and many felt as if our ‘urban supernatural thriller’ would be something which was appealing to them as it pushed the boundaries for low budget British film making. The area in which our film is set is South London which means it is given the image of being ‘gritty’ a film which is very much similar to ours in the sense of setting and target demographic is ‘Attack The Block’

3) What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and Why?

Our movie as it is quite low budget and therefore would appeal to companies like Vertigo films and Verve films … as these companies are specialists in the field of distributing low budget British thrillers Vertigo Films are known for distributing films such as Bronson, London to Brighton, Street Dance 1 & 2, Doghouse;

The reason as to why I think that these companies would be successful in distributing our media product is because they are renowned for discovering new British talent within the media industry an example of this is Verve films distributing films such as Bullet Boy, Wake Wood and 1 Day; all of which are of a similar genre to ours.

Music ...

It was difficult finding music that suited our project ; as we felt as if we needed something that reflected the mood  of the characters and the tension within the scene itself , this presented our group with a problem within itself which eventually was solved with the guidance of our teacher who pointed us in the direction of 'Winkies Dream' from Mullholland Drive (David Lynch , 2001) it was from this that we took inspiration for our music .

Finished Filming ...

Today we basically finished the last of our filming although we did experience one set back , as the security at the train station stopped us from filming our final sequence but we should be okay to proceed with what we have so far  as some slick editing skills should make everything fit into place quite well.

Opening Sequence : Momento ...

 This is the introduction to the film memento. It is a very unusual opening sequence as we are watching what seems to be the occurrence of the film but it is going backwards. This creates a sort of flashback sequence which confuses the audience a little which I think has been deliberately done to confuse the audience. This idea would be useful if my group decide to do a crime film as we will be able to play the crime backwards which leads to uncertainty and confusion about what is happening in the film with the audience and creates suspense which will make the audience want to watch more.

Opening Sequence : Identity ...

The scene opens with dark , dim and secluded lighting and colour . The director decides to pan over pictures and use landscaping aswell as over-the-shoulder-shot , the framing is tight and close ups with the words in newspapers left in focus .There is no speech from the only actor on screen and the only speech that is made is in correspondance to the images being shown . We the have the Diagetic sound of the thunder storm outside.

Opening Sequence : The Bone Collecter ...

The scene opens with a dark , dingy lighting to set the tone and mood , the camera panning across NYC gives a point of view shot , the focus used is close ups keeping complete focus on the main character at all times . The performance of Denzel Washington is confident and authorative , the director uses the effect of slow motion ; sound is non-diagetic slow paced high pitched sounds.

Montage ... Opening Sequence ...

Today we decided to go ahead with the idea of using a montage at the start of our opening sequence which we thought would be good as it is something which isn't used much within AS level Media Studies and it explains our  story line quickly without taking up too much of our allotted time ; the tricky thing is getting the right time between slides ...
